Necessary Trivia
Hi, there!
You want to know who is writing this thing, don’t you? Well, my full name is Merry Megan Drummond Willome (but don’t tell anyone). I was raised in Austin and became a grown-up in Waco.
I now live in Fredericksburg, Texas with my husband and two children. Since moving to the Hill Country, I joined a writers group of Christian women called Women of Words. These friends encouraged me to start blogging, and they made me post information about my career.
I am a contributor, columnist, and shadow editor for the Wacoan, a monthly magazine in Waco, Texas. In September 2007, my article titled “The 11 Comandments of Being a Good Neighbor” won an Addy. The magazine’s website is www.wacoan.com, and the magazine’s blog, where some of my previous articles are posted, is located at www.wacosphere.com.
I also have pieces in two anthologies. “Phil Simms, C.S. Lewis, and Tea” appeared in Chicken Soup for the Tea Lover’s Soul (2007) and “The Sweetness of Giving” is in Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes (2008).
Lately, I’ve been writing poems about my mother’s cancer (see the section “My Mother’s Diary”), but in general, it’s just not a good day until I write. Unless it’s the Sabbath, of course. Then I revel in not-writing.
